Inside My Visit to the Strip Club
The Strip Club in Chicago offers a different kind of experience than what the name suggests. Located in Wicker Park, the space is centered around vintage-style analog Photo-booths, turning something usually found in bars into the main attraction. During my visit, I focused on capturing the atmosphere, details, and people that make the experience feel nostalgic and interactive.
The studio was created by Andrea and Anthony Vizzari, who have been working with vintage photobooths since 2007. What started as collecting and restoring booths grew into a business focused on building and placing them in spaces across Chicago and beyond. The Strip Club brings that idea into one place, turning the photobooth itself into the main attraction rather than just something on the side.
After seeing how the space is presented, I wanted to capture what it actually feels like to be there.
The exterior of The Strip photobooth studio on North Damen Avenue in Wicker Park is subtle on the street, which contrasts the energy inside.
A wall of past photo strips surrounds the photobooth, which turns the space into a visual archive of everyone who’s stepped inside.
Guests move through the space, waiting their turn to capture moments inside the photobooths.
The classic “4 poses” format reflects the simplicity and rhythm of the photobooth experience.
Bold signage invites guests to create their own images, emphasizing the interactive nature of the space.
I scanned these photobooth strips as a final result of the experience, bringing together the atmosphere and moments captured throughout the space.
